Remember the YakFisher

It is with great sadness

that I must share the news with everyone that Rodney Carroll has passed away.
Rodney was passionate about supporting the men and women of the US Military and our Veterans. Along with Dan Smith and John Polosky, Rodney led the trip to Wilmington in 2006 that forced establishments to change their policy and allow servicemen in uniform to gain admission. This act ultimately lead to the creation of MAD and Rodney was instrumental in getting the first few events started. Without his leadership and dedication to those who serve, MAD would never have been able to get off the ground. It was his dedication to all who have worn the uniform of our country that fueled him and he wore his love of country as a badge of honor every day.

Please keep Rodney and his family in your thoughts and prayers while we mourn the loss of our dear friend.

In Memory of …

Rodney Isaac Carroll, aka “Yakfisher” went to be with our Lord on Monday, April 6, 2015.
Rodney was born in Greensboro, NC on February 16, 1962 and was currently living in Atlantic Beach, NC. He enjoyed fishing, kayaking, camping, and all outdoor activities. He served honorably in the US Navy and afterwards he became a passionate supporter of all who served in all branches of the military. He was one of the founders of MAD, Military Appreciation Day, and was instrumental in the leadership of that group and organizing events. Rodney’s love of country and those who serve was exceeded only by his love of God, and his family.
