The first of four events, the Cape Lookout Shootout Tournament Series was held July 17-18 at the BoatHouse in Beaufort, NC.
The beneficiary of the series is Military Appreciation Day, who receives the proceeds from fish sales, and any other donations made from the participants.

MAD volunteers prepared and served some delicious barbecue and all the fixins for the Captain’s meeting on Friday July 17th. Hobo Junction as they are known did a fantastic job as usual, and there were numerous full bellies and compliments.

Last year, each winning boat donated $1,000 of their winnings on the spot!!

Saturday was tournament day and several MAD volunteers helped to dock the boats and 4 special guests from the Single Marines Program helped to gut the fish as they came in.
The tradition continues, the winning boat this year was “Mom Said No” and Captain Harvey Hoopes donated $1,000 of their winnings to MAD!

The next events for the Cape Lookout Shootout are:
August 28/29 (MAD will prepare and serve food again & dock help needed)
October 9/10 (Only dock help needed)
and the Championship on November 13/14 (Only dock help needed)
